From CleanMiles to Charity Donations

A big thanks to the CleanSpace members who took part in (and smashed) the January 25k and February 85k CleanMile challenges. They braved the elements; and by choosing to walk, run, and cycle during the bleak winter months have collectively covered over 197,000 miles. That’s an amazing eight round-the-world trips and almost 58,000kg of CO2 saved from entering the atmosphere!

That’s not all. By taking part, our members’ CleanMiles have been converted into a £10,000 donation for our charity partners Earthwatch, British Lung Foundation and Sustrans.

This will support the significant work already undertaken by Sustrans to enable people to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys; by Earthwatch to engage and promote scientific research and education that delivers a sustainable planet; and by British Lung Foundation to improve care, prevent, treat and cure lung diseases in the UK.

Sustrans are pleased that: “The money donated from CleanSpace will help Sustrans to continue working to enable more people to travel by foot and by bike. This includes our work repairing and maintaining the National Cycle Network which millions of people use each year to travel on quiet and often traffic-free routes.”

The team at Earthwatch is thrilled to use this donation to further the reach of their science citizen research project – FreshWater Watch. Our CleanMiles have helped expand the trial to 10 wild swimming clubs across the UK and Professor Steven Loiselle, Global Freshwater Research manager, had this to say: “Empowering people to be able to study their own area is so important and this funding is bringing a new community into the programme, and one that is committed to the importance of clean, healthy fresh water.

Dr Penny Woods, Chief Executive, the British Lung Foundation, said: “Air pollution affects everyone. It can have greatest impact on the most vulnerable – children, the elderly, and those with lung conditions. This generous donation from CleanSpace will help us fight to make sure everyone can breathe clean air with healthy lungs.”

Together with our impassioned charity partners, our dedicated CleanSpace members, and our cutting-edge Freevolt™ and CleanSpace Tag™ technologies, the winds are firmly in our sails on our journey to tackle air pollution and make the air we breathe cleaner and healthier for our generation and generations to follow.

Lord Paul Drayson, our CEO, also added that: “CleanSpace shows that with the provision of innovative technology, we can all work together to tackle global problems like air pollution. Our work with charitable partners and organizations that share this vision is helping make our air cleaner, no matter who you are or where you live.”

So, thank you, once again, for being part of the solution to air pollution.

Best wishes,

The Drayson Technologies Team
